Why does your butt deflate after pregnancy?
I used to have a pretty cute butt, nothing too special, but not too shabby either. No, I am not bragging, but there are a few things that people used to point out about me and one of them was my butt. I am not a butt “person” per se so I I never really thought that it mattered…WELL I think I would have perhaps thought differently if I knew that my butt was going to totally deflate after my pregnancy. WHAT UP WITH THAT??!
When you Google this topic, and yes I have…you will find that there are a lot of mommy discussion boards and blogs about this very same phenomenon. It’s not that I mind…so much…and I knew (was painfully, freaking aware) that my post pregnancy body (especially at well-post 35 years young) was never going to be the same as my pre-pregnancy one. I also knew that there would be things that would surprise me after pregnancy and certainly some did and even though the scale posts a different number than it used to and even though I still do not like the way that I look in pictures, I am actually wearing many of my pre-pregnancy clothes which is (in my view, and in the view of my checkbook) a great accomplishment. Is there more weight to lose? Why yes! Check out some of my Weight Lost Wednesday Posts to read more about that.
Anyway, back to the butt. Here are some things that I have learned from others regarding this similar topic….
- When women have a baby somehow they all of a sudden get a “mom” butt too: http://www.hautemommyblog.com/2011/11/mom-butt-and-state-of-my-post-baby-body.html
- Huge Butts become less huge for some magical and mystical reason: http://www.girlsgonechild.net/2009/03/ass-is-always-greener.html
- That there is a direct correlation between the wonderful deflating of the tummy and and the unexpected deflating of the badonk-a-donk: http://twinpossible.com/f-a-s-what-i-refer-to-as-flat-as-syndrome-booty-after-baby
I am writing this post both because I think that it is funny that so many women experience butt deflation syndrome (and I fell like my butt is spreading out in my chair as I type) and also because this has been a tough week for me with discussions of people I love getting sick, the anniversary of September 11th, a disagreement with a good friend, and I thought that a little humor was in order to lift my spirits a butt, I mean a bit. I hope that all have a great weekend!!
