The first few words
Watching children pick up language is absolutely amazing. LadyBug has been saying a few words for awhile, but this past weekend it seemed like it really took a leap forwad. Do not get me wrong, she is not actually talking too much, mostly, she is copying me when I ask her if she can say something and she is saying a few once word sentences like “Agua” and “Whee!”.
This weekend she totally made both my sister and my mother’s day by repeating after me when I said, “Can you say Auntie”?
and when I said, “Can you say Grandma”?
LadyBug certainly does not have as many words as some other kids her age, and that totally does not matter to me, but it is just so much fun to hear the words she does have come out of her mouth. I know that there will be a day not too long in the future when I cannot get her to stop talking, but right now it is absolutely adorable. Here are some of the words that she currently has (whether or not she says unsolicited them is another story).
Whee! (she uses this for slide, swing, and for anything that we do together that rolls her over or puts her up in the air)
Gato (cat in Spanish)
Ooo – Ooo (this is her version of Woof Woof)
Agua (water in Spanish)
Wawa (water in English)
